Area B

Area B

Sub-Projects: B1 to B3

Project Area B works at long time archiving on DNS cloud storages in vitro and in vivo. Two of the innovative approaches they make in this context are the alteration of the DNS alphabet and spread saving of information on populations of bacterial vegetative cells and their standing forms (spores). They are supported by the Z-Project and additionally collaborate with Area A.

The potential of alteration of the DNS alphabet by modifications of nucleotides is examined by Project B1 (Becker, Heider) and serves as the basis to further develop quaternary and superior encoding systems. The focus lies on the development and evaluation of proceedings to generate sequenceable DNS molecules with incorporated modifiable nucleotides for saving informations in vivo.

Project B2 (Becker) constructs, compares and evaluates DNS-based cloud information storages in various in vitro and in vivo formats. The main focus of the research is to develop a modular automatic system which and serves the purpose of saving more structured sets of data.

Project B3 (Graumann) aims to establish digital information made for long-term archiving in the DNS code of bacterial spores, as well as optimizing these very spores for such purposes.
